A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.
Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
