In a unexpected partnership that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Uncovered

According to the official statement, "An unusual meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned rituals and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The narrative presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden group.

The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Changes

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Content

Players who finish the mission will obtain an special katana together with multiple items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons

Latest Free Story Update

This release also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
