A extended cruise through the Land Down Under has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was left behind by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The ship left without her and came back later that day after the crew discovered the woman was not present.

A large-scale rescue mission found her person the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with law enforcement and the official investigator.

Head of the shipping company announced that travelers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that guests would be provided a full refund, and said the organization was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Officials also issued an revised communication, and said they had "issued a directive to the Master" prohibiting any new passengers from entering the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would inspect the vessel in Cairns upon its coming back.

The liner first departed the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the voyage at the time of the senior passenger's demise. Lizard Island was the initial destination on the journey.

She further stated that she desired the investigation would be able to identify what "the organization should have done that might have saved Mum's being".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a extremely warm period, and she became unwell on the mountain ascent," she stated.

"They requested her to go back, alone. Then the ship left, apparently without doing a roll call.
