Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
